Gardaí in Macroom Co Cork have sadly confirmed that a woman aged in her 90s has died following a road traffic incident this evening.
It is understood the woman was seriously injured when her car collided with another vehicle on Sleaveen Road at approximately 5.20pm.
Gardaí say the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene despite attempts to save her.
Her body has since been transferred to Cork University Hospital for a post mortem examination.
They also say the occupant of the other vehicle was uninjured in the collision.
