An Irishman has died after getting caught up in one of the many wildfires in Greece.
Tragically, Brian O’Callaghan-Westropp and his new wife Zoe Holohan were on honeymoon in Mati when the fires hit.
The couple were only married last Thursday, and flew out to Greece on Saturday to be in the coastal town for their honeymoon.
They were both living and working in Dublin although it’s understood neither are from the capital originally.
Ireland’s Ambassador to Greece Orla O’Hanrahan has confirmed the tragic death and said her sympathies went out to the family of Mr O’Callaghan-Westropp at this time.
Zoe Holohan is tragically said to be recovering and greiving in hospital. God help them all.
