Good news for festival goers as Judge allows the sale of alcohol at this summer’s Marlay Park events

There was some good news for festival goers who intend on partying at Marlay Park this summer as a Judge has granted permission to event organisers that will allow the sale of alcohol.

The news comes after residents in Rathfarnham recently submitted an application calling on for a ban on the selling of alcohol. The three-day Longitude Festival which will feature a number of acts, will take place at Marlay Park from 15 July-17 July, will now be able to serve alcohol after Judge Michael Coghlan rejected the communities objections.

It is understood that Events Bars & Catering (Facilities MGT Ireland) Ltd applied to Dublin District Court a number of months ago for an occasional licence to serve alcohol at the event however they were nit granted the licence after 25 concerned Rathfarnham residents objected, with many claiming trouble would break out once again.

Reports say locals complained about under-age drinking, inebriated concert goes urinating in public places, anti-social behaviour and not being able to get access to their homes. However, Judge Coghlan denied the residents objection citing the need for concert venues in many areas before adding such events would not be a “teetotaller convention.”
