Harris expresses ‘deep concern’ for Rafah to the President of Israel

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has had a phone conversation with Taoiseach Simon Harris, reports RTE.

A Taoiseach official stated that Mr. Harris outlined the government’s stance on Gaza, which includes Ireland’s desire for an expedient ceasefire as well as urgent and “unhindered access” for humanitarian relief.

Mr. Harris also conveyed his extreme worry on the possibility of a disaster in Rafah, reports RTE.

The Taoiseach underlined the opinion that peace and security for Israel and Palestine can only be founded on a two-state solution.

He also stated that Ireland will acknowledge the State of Palestine.

Mr Harris “made clear Ireland’s abhorrence of Hamas” and the country’s support for the “immediate and unconditional release of Israeli hostages”, reports RTE.
