Holohan is ‘very concerned’ at the high number of people in ICU around the country

The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan is said to be extremely concerned with the high number of people in Intensive Care Units around the country.

Holohan said that daily case numbers have hovered around the 2000 case number per day over the past fortnight but that the ICU number has grown and is now concerning to NPHET as Autumn and Winter approach.

The CMO said that the ICU number is now at its highest since April and that ‘vaccination remains the best line of defence against covid’.

He also said that people need to do what they can to not contract covid, including social distancing and not congregating in crowds.
