Two homeless women appeared on the Late Late Show on Good Friday. Lyndsey Robinson (24) was predominantly the person interviewed, while Erica Fleming (30) was interviewed towards the end of the segment.

What transpired was a snippet into the life of women who had nowhere to live and eventually were housed in hotels with their daughters.

Lyndsey has been living with her 3-yr-old in a hotel room for the past two years, whereas Erica is living with her 9-yr-old in a hotel since June last year.

Althought the women got plenty of support online, they received quite a number of complaints as to how they appeared on the show yet were homeless:

“Makeup, hair, dress shoes and tattoos not to mention false tan. Great country!!” wrote one Twitter user,

while another said: “Well she can afford plenty of make up…”

Lyndsey has hit back however, she said:
“Most of the comments I’ve seen have been positive. I think some people are starting to get it. We are not living in luxury,”

“If we could all trade places, I’d like to see some people, or even TDs, survive in a small room like this for a few weeks.”

She went on to say everyone would look their best if they appeared on the Late Late Show:
“I was panicking about what to wear. If anyone was going on the Late Late they would be dressed up. The whole of Ireland is looking at you.”

She couldn’t afford a babysitter so RTE covered that, she borrowed clothes and shoes off friends, and even though the Late Late Show makeup department did her makeup, some online users complained about how to appeared.
