Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy refuses to help with the spiralling costs of renting, saying that it’d be ‘dangerous’ to do so

Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy has categorically refused to do anything about the spiralling rent costs across Ireland, somewhat bizarrely stating that it’d be ‘dangerous’ to do so, the Irish Mirror says.

Mr. Murphy, who has seen homelessness skyrocket during his tenure, said he’s more than happy to let private landlords call the shots and charge whatever they want, adding that rent freezes would ‘freeze (first-time renters) out of the rental sector’.

A recent survey carried out by Daft revealed that rents have reached stratospheric records across Ireland.

What do you think of this, yet another Government failure to do anything remotely useful for anybody except the wealthy? Let us know in the comments below.
