Husband (51) charged with murdering his wife (46) at Dublin home

A 51-year-old man appeared in court charged with the murder of his wife at their home in Dublin, reports RTE.

Anna Mooney, 46, was found stabbed to death in a house in Kilbarrack in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Gardaí and emergency services discovered her body lying on the kitchen floor.

Stephen Mooney, from Kilbarrack Road, was remanded in custody to appear again at Cloverhill County Court the following Tuesday, reports RTE.

Detective Sergeant Basil Grimes today presented evidence of arrest, charge, and caution.

He told the court Mr. Mooney had been arrested at 3am and when he was charged with Ms. Mooney’s murder he replied “no comment”, reports RTE.

A copy of the charge was served on him.

Judge Smyth granted him free legal aid and ordered that he receive appropriate medical care in prison.

The judge has kept Mr Mooney in custody to reappear via video link at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday, reports RTE.
