The widowed husband of the late Jill Meagher said he was absolutely heartbroken at the news of Karen Buckley’s murder.
Tom Meagher said.
“I remember waking up the morning that I found out what happened and it was just so heartbreaking. I cried for hours”.
He was speaking at the launch of “Prostitution – We don’t buy it”, a campaign organized by The Reach Project that speaks out against the rape of prostitutes.
Mr Meagher also said he still thinks of Adrian Bayley from time to time.
“When I think about him my blood does boil but it’s not ever-present”.
At the launch he read out comments on a website of men who raped women they paid for sex.
One man said “Sometimes you might rape someone but you can go get a prostitute instead”
Tom Meagher made the point that paying for prostitution definitely does not give men the freedom to rape.
