Ikea recall child safety gates amid safety fears after two toddlers fall down a flight of stairs

There has been urgent recall issued by Swedish and world renowned furniture retailer Ikea after it was discovered a number of child safety gates have defective fault.

It is believed the recall comes after two toddlers fell down a flight of stairs after they managed to open the gates with ease. Ikea say the affected products, Patrull Klamma and Patrull Fast, have been on sale in number of stores worldwide including it’s Dublin store.

The company have issued a warning to parents who purchased the Patrull gate to stop using it “immediately” and return it for a full refund. A spokesperson for Ikea said that a third party investigation had shown that the locking mechanism was not reliable, posing a risk for small children, “despite approved tests to applicable standards”.
