Investigation continues after man sadly dies after fall from cliffs in Ballybunion, Kerry




A 70-year-old man has died after falling off a cliff in Ballybunion, Co. Kerry, reports The Mirror.

Emergency services including Gardaí, Ballybunion Rescue, the Irish Coast Guard and the National Ambulance Service from Tralee arrived at the scene in Nuns Beach shortly after 6pm on Tuesday.

An official statement from An Garda Síochána said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident at Nuns Beach in Ballybunion, Co. Kerry, on the evening of Tuesday 8th August 2023. The body of a man aged in his 70s was removed from the scene and taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem will take place,” reports The Mirror.

Gardaí added that the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokeswoman for Ballybunion Rescue said Valentia Coast Guard alerted them at 6:01 p.m. of a man falling from the top of a cliff between Ladies and Nuns Beaches in Ballybunion.

“Our IB1 D class was launched at 6.08pm with three crew and the male was taken from the water at approximately 6.10pm. The male casualty, not believed to be local to the area, was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam,” said the spokesperson, reports The Mirror.
