Several people were injured after an altercation in Tuam, County Galway, broke out on Wednesday afternoon.
Five people are believed to have been stabbed with severe stab wounds and one injured was airlifted to hospital for treatment.
After two funerals in the city, riots broke out. Gardaí said it was a serious public order incidents with an investigation ongoing.
Most of the injuries occurred in clashes near the town cemetery.
Traffic diversions were put in place causing delays for drivers in and around the area due to the severity of the incidents.
