An investigation is underway this morning after police in the North have confirmed that a man believed to be a well known loyalist was shot dead in North Belfast.
The PSNI say the shooting happened in the Sunningdale Gardens area, off the Ballysillan Road, at approximately 9.50pm last night.
Meanwhile First Minister of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Arlene Foster, has condemned the shooting saying “She was shocked and disgusted.”
Ms Foster also urged people to work with the police as they investigate.
