Ireland keep Six Nations Championship hopes alive with a superb win over France

Ireland have kept their Six Nations Championship hopes alive with a dominant 26-14 win over France in Dublin this afternoon.

In a must win game to keep Ireland in the hunt, Joe Schmidt’s men set up a potential championship decider with Wales in Cardiff next Saturday with a bonus point victory over a poor French side at the Aviva Stadium.

Although Ireland need results to go their way next weekend, the boys in green did all they were required to do as tries from Best, Sexton, Conan, and Earls sealed the points in front of packed out Aviva.

France who were looking a possible threat heading into the match, looked far from the side that convincingly beat Scotland two weeks ago.

However they will be given encouragement following two late tries from Huget and Chat.

Scores as follows

Ireland 26
Best (3), Sexton (30), Conan (36), Earls (56)
Conversions: Sexton (4,31,58)

France 14
Tries: Huget (77), Chat (80)
Conversions: Serin (78,80)
