Ireland’s hope’s of lifting the Six Nations crown are all but over after they were beaten 15-13 at the Aviva Stadium.
In a must win game following last week’s defeat against Wales, Ireland came undone by a strong French performance.
Ireland who dominated possession in the first half were punished late on the half as France were given an easy try to put themselves 10-3 up at the break.
Although Ireland put up a spirited performance, they were once again made to pay as France further extended their lead in the second half following some nice build up play.
Ireland who were chasing the game did get themselves back into it with a try from Kelleher and a penalty from Byrne.
However despite their best efforts Ireland couldn’t get the crucial game to seal victory.
