‘It’ll only short lived’ – Real concerns for 30,000 women in the UK who claim to have period problems since they got the covid vaccine

There are real concerns in the UK that a large number of women are now experiencing period problems after getting their vaccine. The problems are said to be short-lived, however many fear that they could go on longer than that and have other implications such as blood clots.

More than 30,000 women in the UK have reported that their periods were problematic after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine, but the changes are said to be “short-lived,” according to an article in a major medical journal.

Most women return to normal after just one cycle, according to the British Medical Journal article. Dr Victoria Male, professor of reproductive immunology, says there is no evidence that vaccination affects fertility even though some people claim that is the case.

Dr Male said more research is needed to ensure the success of the vaccination program.
According to RTE, she said reluctance to vaccinate among women was largely due to “false claims that vaccination could harm their chances of future pregnancy”.

“Failing to thoroughly investigate reports of menstrual changes after vaccination is likely to fuel these fears,” she wrote.

“If a link between vaccination and menstrual changes is confirmed, this information will allow people to plan for potentially altered cycles.

“Clear and trusted information is particularly important for those who rely on being able to predict their menstrual cycles to either achieve or avoid pregnancy.”
