Jack and Emily once again come out on top as the most popular baby names list is published by the CSO

The names Jack and Emily have once again come out on top of the list of registered names in Ireland.

According to latest figures published by the CSO, the name Jack was the most registered boy’s name in 2017.

The figures which account for names registered for both genders found that James was the second most popular choice in 2017, whilst Daniel came third on the list.

Rounding out the top ten, the names  Conor, Sean and Noah were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Meanwhile the names Luke, Harry, Adam and Michael completed the top ten list.

In the girls list, it was once again Emily who came out on top for the seventh consecutive year as the most popular girls name.

Perhaps the biggest mover on the list was the name Emma which jumped up five places in the list to be the second most popular girls name to be registered in 2017.

Meanwhile Amelia, Grace and Sophie were the third, fourth and fifth respectively on the list.

The names Lucy, Hannah, Mia, Ava and Chloe completed out the top ten in the above order.
