Large area of central Berlin evacuated after building work uncovers unexploded WW2 bomb

A large portion of central Berlin had to be evacuated this morning, after a large WW2-era bomb was discovered during building work.

Berlin’s central train station, official buldings, and several apartment blocks were evacuated as explosive experts were dispatched to the scene.

The discovery of unexploded ordnance from World War 2 is a regular enough occurrence across Germany, even more than seventy years after the end of the war.
