Large group of protesters descend on RTÉ studios calling on the broadcaster to boycott this year’s Eurovision song contest

A large number of people descended on RTÉ studios in Donnybrook, this afternoon calling on the broadcaster to boycott this year’s Eurovision song contest.

It is understood the group of people which represents the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, protested outside the studios calling on the national broadcaster to boycott this year’s competition which is being held in Israel.

The campaign which has also called on Ireland’s entry Sarah McTernan not to participate, say Israel is using competition as a political tool and they shouldn’t be allowed to do so.

However although RTÉ say they respect to protests, they say they have no political stance on the issue as it is a public broadcaster.

They also say they will not take a stance as the competition is about music and not politics.
