Leinster win battle of Ireland to book place in the Champions Cup semi finals

Leinster have won the battle of Ireland to book their place in the semi finals of the Heineken Championship Cup semi finals, beating Ulster 21-18.

In what was a high tempo game from start to finish, Leinster edged just about edged out Ulster to boom their place in the last four.

The reigning champions who were without a number of key players including, Johnny Sexton, had Ross Byrne to thank as his penalty broke Ulster hearts in front of a full Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Ulster who will feel hard done by, were unlucky not to claim the spoils as they pushed Leinster all the way and looked ever dangerous with Jacob Stockdale a constant threat.

However it wasn’t to be and Leinster, will now face either Racing 92 or Toulouse in the semi finals.

Meanwhile earlier in the day Munster capped a superb day for Irish rugby as they beat Edinburgh 17-13 at Murrayfield.

In yet a another close game, Keith Earls proved the hero as his second half try in the corner proved the difference between the sides.
