Minimum wage in Ireland should be raised to from €8.65 to €9.15, according to the Low Pay Commission.
The recommendation was made in a report put forward to Ged Nash, Minister for Business & Employment.
According to Government sources, such raise could be implemented by January of next year.
The Commission reached their recommendation after looking at data from a range of sources, accepted submissions from interested parties, and met minimum wage workers and their employers.
The latest figure contrasts with the one proposed by think-tank Tasc, which said in a report earlier this month that three quarters of people think that minimum wage should be raised to €11.50 an hour.
