A major search is underway to find a 45-year-old woman from Inskip, Lancashire who went missing while walking her dog.

Nicola Bulley was last seen three days ago – Friday 27 January – at around 9.15am walking on a towpath alongside the River Wyre off the Garstang Road in the village of St Michael’s on Wyre.

Police say her mobile phone was found on a bench near the riverbank and they are “extremely concerned” about her and have urged anyone with information to contact the police.

Squads of police divers, fire brigade drones, search dogs, helicopters and mountain rescue volunteers have been deployed to the area.

Lancashire Police have previously said Mrs Bulley’s dog – a brown spaniel – was also found near where she was last seen and they hope it will help jog the memory of anyone and they may have information about her whereabouts.

She is described as white, 5 feet 3 inches tall, with light brown hair, shoulder length and she speaks with an Essex accent.

In an update on Monday, Superintendent Sally Riley appealed to motorists who may have driven through the area where Ms. Bulley was last seen to come forward with dashcam footage that could help officers.

Chief Inspector Chris Barton had previously urged the public to contact officers “straightaway” if they had any information at an appeals hearing on Sunday.

He added that officers are aware that a large number of people from the local community staged a search of the area and urged them to stay safe.

The River Wyre and its banks are extremely dangerous and research in these areas poses a real risk to the public, the force said.
