Man expected to appear in court in connection with the murder of Co Wicklow woman

A man is expected to appear in court this morning in connection with the death of Co Wicklow woman Anne Shortall.

The body of 47-year-old Mrs Shortall was discovered in a shed in Ashford on Tuesday afternoon Mrs Shortall had been missing since last Friday and her body was discovered by gardai investigating her disappearance. The man in question was arrested yesterday afternoon and is being currently held at Wicklow Garda Station. He expected to arrive at Bray District Court this morning at 10am. Gardai conducted a technical examination at the scene in Killoughter yesterday afternoon. It is understood that they also investigated a second scene in Wicklow town.

Meanwhile a candlelight vigil was held by the people of  Wicklow town to remember the mother-of-three. A large number of people gathered at Parnell Bridge in the town near where Ms Shortall was last seen alive.  Her family had asked people to light candles “to light Anne’s way home”. Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information to contact them at Wicklow Garda Station on 0404-60140.
