Gardaí have begun a manhunt for a paedophile who is on the run and is suspected to be hiding in Dublin. David Swift (53) of Sparkhill in Birmingham failed to appear in court to answer charges of downloading child porn in December of last year.
Police have not been able to track him down since. He is believed to be hiding in north Dublin. Authorities in the UK believe he has connections in the Swords area.
Det Con Lindsey Seeley, of the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team, said: “We continue to make enquiries and we will continue to search for him. We are led to believe that he may have connections to the Swords area of Ireland, a region of Dublin. However, we cannot be certain he is in Ireland and I would appeal to anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to contact their local police as soon as possible.”
David Swift was born in Stirling, Scotland and is described as white, around 5ft 9ins tall with a Scottish accent.
