In his statement, Mr. Martin highlighted, “The strong bonds between Ireland and the United States are rooted in centuries of shared history and the deep connections between our citizens.
“On this momentous occasion, I want to affirm that the United States can count on Ireland as a steadfast partner and friend.”
Mr. Martin further elaborated on the evolved relationship between the two nations, stating, “Our partnership has grown into a robust, dynamic, and mutually advantageous political and economic alliance.
“Our bilateral trade now surpasses €1 trillion annually. It is our duty to enhance this partnership further, fostering sustainable employment and prosperity across the Atlantic.”
He also reflected on the peace process, adding, “I am reminded today of the journey towards peace and reconciliation in Ireland, and the invaluable support from successive U.S. administrations in striving for a peaceful future for all on our island.”
