The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has announced that 25,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Ireland since the start of the conflict between Russia and the Ukraine starting on February 24th.

Russia has recently ramped up attempts to take the eastern side of Ukraine.

Martin says we will be using facilities such Gormanstown and Millstreet in Cork as numbers continue to come into the country. He said that situation is very challenging but we need to do all we can for people coming into the country from the Ukraine.

He said that Vladimir Putin is trying to bomb people out of the Ukraine so that they’ll flee and that war is raging on.
