Massive condemnation after woman gets kicked and head stamped on in broad daylight on busy Cork street

GardaĆ have launched an investigation after a woman was violently attacked on a busy street in Cork this week, reports The Mirror.

The woman, wearing an orange jacket, was seen standing near a stone bench in Daunt Square, Cork city, just a few metres from Herlihy’s Centra.

As she reached into a shopping bag placed on the bench, a man dressed entirely in black with his hood up began striking her repeatedly in the head until she collapsed to the ground. He then stomped on her head, followed by another man in blue clothing who appeared and delivered a kick to her head, reports The Mirror.

GardaĆ have confirmed that officers were dispatched to the scene of the assault on Tuesday evening. However, it is believed that no formal criminal complaint has been lodged.

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: ā€œGardaĆ responded to a report of an assault that occurred on Daunt Square in Cork city at approximately 6:30pm on Tuesday, 6 Mayā€, reports The Mirror.

They added that investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
