Mater Hospital asks people to not go to A&E there due to rise in Covid cases and staff absences

The Mater Hospital is asking people to not go to A&E there due to a rise in Covid cases and staff absences.

It is understood that people at the emergency department face waiting times of several hours, so the hospital is advising to go somewhere else.

The situation is likely to get worse over the coming extended Bank Holiday weekend.
