Earlier hopes of a White Christmas have been soundly dashed, as Met Eireann is forecasting a washout Christmas weekend, with mild temperatures and plenty rain around the country.
Today, Friday, is expected to be a mild, overcast, and rainy day, with temperatures reaching 11-12C at times.
The rain will continue overnight, leading into a very wet start of Christmas Day. Brighter conditions will follow in the afternoon, with temperatures again rising to double figures.
St. Stephen’s Day will be a mixed bag of rain showers and bright spells, with mild temperatures during the day. The thermometer will drop to below freezing at night though.
