The national forecaster has said that the weather will remain very cold for the next few days, with temperatures dropping to -3C or -4C during the night.
However, conditions are expected to improve somewhat towards the weekend, with a marked rise in temperatures.
Tuesday night is forecast to be particularly cold, with sharp to severe frost across many areas.
Daytime temperatures will remain in single digits for most of the week, with just a few scattered showers.
