Met Eireann is forecasting sunny and settled conditions for the May Bank Holiday weekend, with plenty sunshine and little or no rain

The upcoming May Bank Holiday will bring plenty sunshine and settled conditions, with little or no rain, according to the national forecaster.

Temperatures will remain slightly lower than average for the time of year, topping at 13 or perhaps 14C, but the dry and calm conditions will make up for that.

There will be plenty rain in the meantime though, with frequent showers developing around the west this afternoon, and spreading eastwards as the day goes on.

A similar pattern will develop over the following 48 hours, with showers and dull conditions predominant on Thursday and Friday.
