Met Eireann issues weather warning for heavy rain, as up to 50mm of rain is forecast to fall over a 24-hour period




Bring your brolly if you’re out and about this morning as it’s going to absolutely lash later today.

The national forecaster has issued a warning for heavy rainfall, as up to 50mm of rain is forecast to fall over a 24-hour period.

The Status Yellow warning covers counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo, and Sligo, and will be in place from shortly after 3pm today.

Met Eireann says that the combination of heavy rain, high seas, and strong winds, might lead to flooding across coastal areas.

People are advised to be vigilant if they’re on the roads and to share this information with their friends.
