Met Eireann warns of a bitterly cold spell next week with strong possibility of snowfalls




The national forecaster is warning that a bitterly cold spell is on its way to Ireland, arriving here on Sunday and lasting well into next week.

Sunday will be a rather cold and blustery day, with periods of sunshine mixed with wintry showers, as temperatures remain in single digits.

Weather conditions will worsen overnight, leading into a frosty Monday morning with temperatures just above freezing.

It will remain very cold on Monday, with lows of -2C and widespread frost.
