As the search for her son enters its second week, the mother of missing British teenager Jay Slater has stated that she would use contributions to pay for her stay in Tenerife, reports Breaking News.

Debbie Duncan stated that she will use the £36,000 (€42,000) that was gathered by over 3,200 individual donations to fund mountain rescue teams as well as to pay for her own lodging and meals while she is spending an extended amount of time on the island.

The day after her son went missing, on June 18, Ms. Duncan took off to join the hunt for him.

The English youngster, who was from Lancashire, vanished as he tried to walk back to his lodging after missing a bus, reports Breaking News.

Before going missing, the 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer went to the NRG music festival on the island with two companions. He was last heard from on June 17.

It would have taken roughly eleven hours to trek on foot from Mr. Slater’s last known location, which is in Rural de Teno Park in the island’s north, to his accommodations.

After his friend Lucy Law, who was also the last person to communicate with him, organised a fundraiser, donations came pouring in, reports Breaking News.

As worries for the boy increased, the GoFundMe campaign “Get Jay Slater home” garnered thousands of dollars in a matter of hours.

Ms. Duncan provided the following update on Thursday: “First of all, I want to express my gratitude to everyone for their support, nice words, and well wishes, reports Breaking News.
