Motorists will be required to attend their NCT test twice after suspension is implemented over the safety of vehicle lifts

Motorists will be required to attend their NCT test twice after a suspension was implemented by the testing body on the use of vehicle lifts.

According to RTÉ News, the suspension comes following safety concerns with the vehicle lifts at test centres across the country.

It is believed that centre’s use a similar model lift to that MAHA lift which is used in Northern Ireland MOT test centre’s.

The NCT say the suspension is only temporary and will be removed once all vehicle lifts are deemed safe to operate.

They added that motorists are required to attend their NCT test as usual, however the standard underbody vehicle check will not take place on the day and therefore vehicle owners will be required to re-attend the test centre at a later date.

It is understood the move comes after MOT centre’s in North Ireland reported that some vehicle lifts showed signs of cracking.
