“My wife and kids were there” – Harris says bomb threat at his home was utterly unacceptable

The bomb threat made to his family’s residence yesterday night, according to Taoiseach Simon Harris, was “utterly unacceptable”, reports RTE.

“I have small children, I have a wife, and this is an absolutely unacceptable situation,” Mr. Harris stated during his speech in Brussels.

Everyone, he continued, “needs to reflect on how we sometimes comment on these matters,” including the media.

It wouldn’t be considered a protest if men in masks were outside your home. When it occurs outside my house, too, it’s not a protest,” he declared, reports RTE.

Furthermore, Mr. Harris expressed his opinion that the term “hoax” was not appropriate to employ, stating, “I have no doubt that these things are done to intimidate and to upset.”

The Minister of Justice, Helen McEntee, expressed her satisfaction that “everyone is safe, and everyone is well” while calling the bomb threat “deplorable”, reports RTE.

She remarked that the climate for those in politics has changed, and regrettably, this is becoming more typical.

“It can’t be tolerated, it’s not acceptable and everything has to be done to make sure anyone responsible for that should be held accountable. That’s it end of, it will not be tolerated,” she said, reports RTE.
