NATO has deployed airborne early warning and control (AWACS) aircraft to its eastern flank to monitor Russian military activity, it has been confirmed today.
The aircraft’s flight path will be confined to NATO territory, but the equipment will gather valuable intel about enemy troop movements, weapon deployments, etc.
AWACS planes can detect and track multiple enemy targets and direct friendly aircraft or ground-based anti-aircraft batteries to neutralize the threats.
NATO has wisely been reinforcing the alliance’s eastern flank ahead of a potential aggressive move by the Eastern bloc in the future.
