All members of the Defence Forces who have taken part in humanitarian missions in the Mediterranean Sea will receive the newly instated Defence Forces International Operational Service Medal.
The Minister of State for Defence, Paul Kehoe, announced the creation of the new award while visiting the crew of the LE James Joyce in Sardinia, Italy, today.
The medals will be awarded during a ceremony in Rosslare next month.
