A newborn baby who tragically suffered serious injuries after being found underneath his dead mother at Cork University Hospital, has sadly passed away.
According to RTÉ News, the baby boy is believed to have been born over the weekend, sadly passed away on Tuesday evening.
Although the mother’s exact cause of death is yet to be determined, those investigating the case say they believe that she may have had suffered a medical episode whilst breastfeeding her baby.
It is reported that the woman was found lying on the floor at the maternity hospital on Monday morning at approximately 8am.
Although the baby boy was placed in intensive care, it is understood that he sadly passed away last night.
Management at the hospital say an investigation into both deaths is currently ongoing.
