
Experts have said that, if the trend continues, Irish men will become the fattest in Europe by the year 2025.
The study reveals that 36% of men here will be classified as “fat” by 2025, alongside British and Lithuanian men.
And the women won’t fare that much better, with 37% being classified as overweight in nine years’ time.
Irish females currently have the highest BMI in Europe, along with the UK and women in the Russian Federation, at around 27.0 kg/m.
