Gardaí in Dublin have issued a warning to parents after they seized a number of weapons including knives, scalpels and a hammer from young teenagers over the past week.
In an operation to target ongoing knife crime amongst young people in the city, Gardai say they seized the weapons following searches over the past few days.
In an urgent appeal to parents, Gardai urged parents to keep an eye on their children’s behaviour and urged the public to report any sightings of potentially dangerous weapons to them immediately.
It is believed that Gardaí have stepped up their attempts to tackle knife crime in the city after a number of youths have been attacked by gangs in recent weeks.
