A second man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a County Antrim woman from her home a week ago after police again requested information on her whereabouts.

A week after the disappearance of 21-year-old Ballymena resident Chloe Mitchell, an extensive search is underway and the police are launching an investigation, reports RTE.

A 34-year-old man was arrested in the Ballymena area this morning and remains in police custody.

A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case in Lurgan, Co Armagh, on Thursday.

Police have another 36 hours to question the man and he remains in police custody.

Superintendent Gillian Kearney said police were treating her as a “high-risk missing person”, reports RTE.

Supt Kearney said police were “becoming increasingly concerned” about her safety, reports RTE.

Ms Mitchell’s disappearance was “completely out of character”, Supt Kearney added.

She also appealed “directly to Chloe to make contact with the police, family or friends so that we know you are safe and well,” reports RTE.

Ms Mitchell was last seen on CCTV in the early hours of June 3 in downtown Ballymena.

She was walking towards James Street in the city wearing a green and black North Face jacket, a white T-shirt, leggings and Nike running shoes.

Ms Mitchell’s brother Phillip has requested anyone with information to contact their family.

Asked by the BBC how much he is missing his sister, he said on Friday: “Words just can’t describe it, I am broke,” reports RTE.
