Volunteers are needed for a big new search for Jay Slater that Tenerife police are planning to begin this weekend, reports The Mirror.

On a statement released today, the Tenerife Civil Guard announced that the operation is already on its eleventh day and asked volunteers to help them in the hunt across the surrounding area.

The “mass search” will start early on Saturday morning, according to Tenerife Civil Guard police commander Angel Sanz Coronado.

He said: “Following the disappearance on June 17 of the young 19-year-old British man in the area of Masca, belonging to the municipality of Buenavista del Norte, the Civil Guard is prepared to carry out a mass search,” reports The Mirror.

“Given that it is a steep, rocky area, full of uneven terrain and with many ravines, tracks and trails, we request the collaboration of all those Volunteer Associations that can help in this planned search that is intended to be carried out in a directed and co-ordinated way,” reports The Mirror.
