Pope’s proposed visit to Ireland will be discussed by Catholic Church leaders later this week




Senior bishops at the Vatican will reportedly meet this week to discuss the possible visit of Pope Francis to Ireland in the future.

It is understood the Pope’s highly anticipated visit to Ireland will be discussed by Global leaders of the Catholic Church in the Vatican later this week, the topic will be discussed along with other issues such as the role of the family, and the Church’s attitudes towards gay people.

The news comes after Pope Francis released a statement regarding the Church’s stance regarding same-sex marriage. In the short statement the Pope said the Catholic Church does not condone same-sex relationships and the church will not be pressured to change its stance regarding the issue. The latest opposition of same-sex marriage comes after a weekend of controversy for the church as a leading priest, Monsignor Krzystof Charamsa, was relieved from his duties after revealing he was a homosexual to the media on Saturday.
