Not believed to be life threatening, the woman in question is one of two people being treated for swine flu in the south east of Ireland.

Last week one individual was treated for an influenza-like illness in Wexford General Hospital.

A spokesman for Ireland East Hospital Group stated that “a number of patients have presented at Wexford General Hospital with influenza-like illness, with two hospitalised”

H1N1 is one of the major influenzas circulating through the country this year but is nowhere near the scale of the outbreak which occurred in 2009.

People are asked to be vigilant, practise hygiene and report any similar illnesses to your local hospital.
