Pubs and clubs to have longer opening hours in Northern Ireland




Ireland’s hospitality trade got dealt an untimely blow on Monday, but as the despair sunk in for business owners South of the border it seems that publicans North of the border have been given a boost.

In a move that will see many in the sector envious, Ministers at Storment have passed a new legislation that will allow for later opening hours in pubs and nightclubs.

Although the new changes are not expected to be implemented until later this year and early next year, pub and club owners in the sector North of the border will now be given the opportunity to serve alcohol until 3am.

Under the new legislation larger establishments will be allowed to serve alcohol until 2am, whilst smaller pubs will be allowed to serve drink until 1am for 104 days in the year.

The new legislation will also allow for revised opening hours over the Easter weekend.
