Iarnród Éireann expects industrial action planned for tomorrow to go ahead and has advised customers to expect significant disruption between 6am to 9am.

Representatives from Iarnród Éireann, SIPTU and the National Bus and Rail Union are meeting today over a dispute over payment for past productivity improvements in a final effort to avert the strike, however management expects it to go ahead without interruption.

Train drivers who are members of SIPTU or the NBRU are scheduled to go on strike for three hours tomorrow, during the busiest hours of the morning.

Iarnród Éireann HR Director Ciaran Masterson said the company will be working hard to bridge the gap between management and unions.

SIPTU and NBRU representatives said progress is being made but their core concerns including limits to the working week for train drivers have not yet been addressed, and they expect further strike action to take place in the near future.

The strike is set to disrupt the travel plans of over 40,000 passengers.
