Dismay for TD’s as they have been informed that the Dáil Bar may be shut for several days after a large rat was spotted in the favourite haunt of Ireland’s esteemed legislators.
The rodent felt strangely at home in Leinster House and now health and safety concerns of the Oireachtas authorities have prompted the bar to close while the premises, which serves food and drink, are searched.
The rat remains on the loose this evening even though it was allegedly chased around the Dail premises with a golf club.
It is reported that the vermin was first spotter by Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin along with Labour leader Joan Burton.
Leinster House has been undergoing renovations and construction for several months now and this may have been how the intruder managed to enter the centre of Irish democracy.
