Revolut begins phasing in car insurance offering

Revolut’s banking and payment app is launching its car insurance offer in Ireland today in partnership with insurer AIG, reports RTE.

As part of the initial phase, the product will be offered to 3,000 customers here before rolling out to all of the company’s Irish customers next month.

Citing a price analysis study it conducted, Revolut said that in a third of cases, its product turned out to be the best deal.

Some customers are lining up to get 30% savings over other providers, Revolut claims.

Customers who subscribe to one of Revolut’s paid plans and sign up for Smart Driving can receive further discounts.

Revolut Smart Driving, which monitors driving patterns and speed, has been available to drivers for less than six years without claims.

Customers who decide to pay the insurance premium in advance may receive an additional premium reduction, reports RTE.

However, the app will offer customers the option to pay in 12 monthly instalments with no upfront payment.

Revolut Car Insurance customers can control their policies in the app where they can view, modify or cancel their policies.

“With this launch, we aim to change the way Irish customers buy, view and manage their car insurance. Getting a quote in our app is now quick and intuitive, with fewer screens and less friction than the traditional ways of buying insurance,” Cian O’Toole, Revolut’s Global Strategy and Operations Manager for Insurance said, reports RTE.
