Saudi oil drone attacks blamed for expectant “massive hike” in petrol and diesel prices

Motorists are going to get it in the neck yet again as the weekend’s drone attacks on Saudi oil reserves is getting the blame for major price hikes expected over the coming weeks.

Prices rose on the back of the attacks on two Saudi oil processing plants that happened on Saturday.

The drone strikes took place at the national energy giant Aramco’s Abqaiq processing plant and Khurais oil field and took out 5.7 million barrels per day of production. This totals more than half of the OPEC kingpin’s output.

The drone attacks halved the output in the world’s top crude oil exporter which experts say will be seen at petrol stations over the coming weeks.
